Research and Policy Officer, UK Poverty Programme – Oxfam Cymru
£27,020 pa pro rata – Permanent, 18-21 hours a week, based in Cardiff

The UK is the world’s sixth richest country. And yet 13.5 million people live in poverty*. The kind of poverty that means they can’t afford to heat their homes and their children go to school hungry. But the poverty that’s right on our doorstep is often overlooked. And it’s certainly misunderstood. At Oxfam, we know that people don’t choose to be poor. The fact is they find themselves in circumstances that leave them trapped. But with enough public pressure for change – and enough political will – we believe this situation can be ended. The purpose of this role is to work with others to influence policy and practice, ideas and beliefs to reduce poverty in Wales and the UK.

To find out more and to apply, visit our website quoting ref: INT 3616

Closing Date: 28th February 2010
Interview Date: w/c 19th March 2010
