About Us
Wales Women’s National Coalition (WWNC) is recognised by the Welsh Assembly Government as the key consultative umbrella organisation representing women’s views to policy makers in Wales. We respond to consultation documents from all departments of the Welsh Assembly Government and many other public sector bodies.
Founded in 1997 in preparation for devolution, we continue to work with partners to produce and deliver projects, literature, advice and research across all governmental portfolio areas. We also engage with Westminster, the European Parliament, United Nations, Local Government and the Third Sector. As a collective organisation our members unite diverse interests, experiences, expectations and expertise in issues concerning the women of Wales.
Wales Women’s National Coalition represents gender as part of the Assembly’s groundbreaking Third Sector Scheme, which promotes the interests of the Third Sector in Wales. We attend the Third Sector Partnership Council and a range of meetings with Ministers. We have presented papers on areas such as Gender Budgeting and Violence against Women, which have been taken forward by the Assembly.
Wales Women’s National Coalition has a seat on the UK Joint Committee on Women (UKJCW). The UKJCW principle aims are to eliminate discrimination against women, the advancement of equal rights for women and the securing of equal opportunities for women. It represents UK women’s views at the European Women’s Lobby allowing WWNC to give a voice to women in Wales on projects to be taken forward in Europe.
Wales Women’s National Coalition also works closely with other Assembly funded equality organisations.
